I'm sure you'll get a big cuddle and maybe more when he's back to whatever normal is for him Gerty.

Well, finally! Thank goodness it's done at last, Milly. What a drawn-out process it has been to get this far. I'm glad Hans has phoned you post-op, they can't have done him too much harm if he could work out how to use the phone.[big-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon]

I hope you'll have a better night tonight and feel a little less stressed.

Thanks everyone, yes it's been a battle, so many things going wrong to prevent him just having the Turp, the biggest being the blood problem, if it hadn't been for that it would have been over ages ago.
Now the healing part, it will be a good few weeks I think before the bladder works as it should, but we will have to wait and see. His biggest fear is incontinence, but they assure him that's very rare, he says he might be the rarity 😡

As far as the incontinance goes he might have to run for the loo for a while, just looking at a toilet made me want to use it, also running water had the same effect for me it went on for about twelve weeks.

Glad that is over and its gone well.

I have just supported a service user through a TURP.

The consultant said it was like coring an apple, taking of the centre part of the prostate.

He was catheterised for a few weeks afterwards but is now catheter free.

Hope Hans makes a good recovery.

What a relief Jan! I have only just had chance to get on line, but wanted to know how Hans was doing.

Make sure you get the best night’s sleep that you can. I know you have had some bad nights recently, but you will need plenty of energy to be ‘Matron’ when he gets home!

Do wish Hans well from all of us when you next speak. I am sure the others on here would like him to know we have all been thinking of him.

If ever my prostate goes wonky I'm not telling you lot.

I don't want you all thinking about (and discussing) my private bits.[strong-no-smiley-emoticon]

Report

He sounds very cheerful, slept well again.
Last night after taking the dreaded antibiotic tablet he was ill again when he'd only eaten half a slice of bread so this morning he has just been drip fed the antibiotic.

Wishing you and Hans all the best.
Glad the hijacker came clear ... not on facts so was confused. Ignoring always works for me - you know where your priorities are.

Glad to hear Hans is still doing well Jan. No wonder he was ill if he had not eaten and was then given antibiotics orally! 😳

Unfortunately he is no longer alone in the room, but hasn't had a chance to talk to the bloke sharing yet. He says he looks and sounds a bit of a P*at.
Tomorrow he will be able to walk freely, He´s  tied to bags of water today, they are flushing him through.[whirly]

Unfortunately, there seem to be a lot of them about, when you're a captive audience.

Right, now the, I have just had a phone call from a very happy man, he has had 2 X the best pee he's had for years and is sure he will make it over the 5 bar gate [hand-clapping-smiley-emoticon]
He has to vacate the room by 10 am in the morning and is now going to ask them to order the taxi home.
From a very happy wife.

I vote you lot can pay for the party [extreme-happiness-smiley-emoticon]
You'll have to talk to him through me I'm afraid Simon, it would take him all day to compose a typed message.
Do you know what, all the buggering about I did with the Kindle showing him how to connect the internet, look at you tube, read his books, he didn't use it once little toe rag. Talks to me umpteen times a day on the phone and stops me getting on with stuff I don't want to be bothered to do anyway [blushing]

I am going to beg you Kev not to leave it too long before you see a specialist and get yourself sorted out. I would say that to any man who is having a lot of trouble, the longer you leave it the bigger the prostate becomes and you don't want to end up like Hans did, a whole year with that messed catheter, so many things went wrong and you don't know how relived I am let alone him. Mind you we still have a few weeks of recovery to go through yet, I might be at my wits end again by then [sad-face]
