As it will be a 5 day event I have decided he will have the best care they can offer so he is going to the posh part of the hospital and hopefully life won't be too boring for him.

if you have Google Chrome it will translate to English.
Scroll down the page and it shows you the rooms and other places to sit etc.

If we didn't have Motley I could have gone with him for a bit extra cash.

Well you'd never guess what, he has to go to our local hospital this afternoon to be drip fed antibiotics just like wot our Kev was yesterday. [open-mouth-surprised-smiley-emoticon]  He has 3 bugs that can´t be dealt with by tablets.

Believed it or not Jan, but we met a doctor who worked there whilst we were on Crete a few years ago! He was a ‘soft tissue’ specialist and a very nice young chap. Most days he would join us for a drink. He was there on his own on a walking holiday. He told us we must visit Berlin, as it is a beautiful city. - I think I even have his address somewhere! (Or had it.....more likely! - My ‘filing system’ isn’t what it should be!).

We wish Hans well and will be thinking if him. Hopefully the bugs will get sorted ASAP. Once The operation is done you will both feel much better about everything, and be able to plan some holidays.

Take care of yourself as well Jan. You will need plenty of energy to do everything whilst Hans is in hospital.....then look after him when he gets home!

Oh what a day we had yesterday.
Over an hour waiting at the urologists for the catheter change and Instructions to go to a hospital for the antibiotic infusion.
We came home for something to eat and drink before going to the nearest hospital where we waited two and a half hours only to be told in the end, they couldn´t do it, but gave a private prescription for anti biotic tablets. Once again we were absolutely kaput when we got home at 6pm.

This morning we were up early (for us) and at the urologists again at 10 am. He was furious that the hospital didn't do the infusion, rang them up and really blew his top with them.
Anyway Hans now has tablets to take because he/we is/are not willing to travel 60 km to Schwedt for an overnight stay for the infusion. It´s a bit like the right hand not knowing what the left is doing.
The reason the urologist wanted him to have the infusion rather that tablets is because some of these antibiotics have upset Hans, Hans said he is willing to risk it, he has never had this one before.
If this fiasco doesn't soon end I think I will have this new illness called burnout. [crying-fountain]

So it's not just this country that can't get it's act together!
A friend of ours recently had a hospital appointment to discuss the results of a scan. She no longer drives and lives in a remote area so had to take 3 buses and a ferry to get there taking 3 hours each way. At her appointment, which lasted 2 minutes, she was told all's fine, no need to come back. Surely a telephone call would have sufficed! She is 86 years old
Chin up Jan. Best wishes to Hans.

Sorry to hear what you and Hans are having to go through, Milly. The last year or so have been a real trial. I do hope that once Hans has this procedure (and follow-up, presumably) you will have a quieter life and be able to put it all behind you. You are both showing remarkable resilience.

We are now at the stage I don't like, packing the case. I don't like it especially this time because if I forget something he will just have to go without, I'm not driving 2 hours there and 2 back with a clean pair of socks [strong-no-smiley-emoticon]

I need a bit of diplomatic help. How do I tell someone without offending them, I couldn't care less how long she has been married, how many children she`s had and how many grandchildren she´s got, she is not satisfied with telling me or us once she keeps repeating it.  The (that) thread is about Hans and at least one person I have to PM about the progress because he is fed up with her interuptions. I tried to joke, but the hint was not taken, in fact the whole family history was repeated and added to. [crying-fountain]

Right, two things.......
Firstly......
The top priority is getting Hans ready for tomorrow and causing both of you as little stress as possible. Sit down together and make a list of what might be needed, then put it to one side ready to pack just before you leave .(That way you will remember WHAT you have packed. - If I do it too early I have to take it all back out of the bag again to remember what I have put in it!). Get it done NOW, so that you can both relax as much as possible before you drive to Berlin.

Secondly.....
I am not good at giving advice, (bossy teacher mode tends to emerge), but I will try! See the PM I am about to you!

Thats a good thing about the German system Lin, I don't have to take him to hospital, when its a staying patient they pay for a taxi to take him and again to bring him home. [big-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon]

Waiting for you PM. X

I'm a great one for lists, Milly. I have a 7 page packing list for the van, and I had a list for packing my hospital bag. I've even kept that in case I need it again (hopefully not).

As for Sandra (who else could you be referring to?) she is like a bloody broken record, coming out with the same old dross time after time. She is always implying what a wonderful parent/grandparent she is and how wonderful all her family are despite it being clear they take from Sandra and Albert all the time and do very little for them in return.

I long ago got fed up listening to and reading her ramblings, much of which are produced while nissed as a pewt. That was part of the reason I split from them when we went on a Scotland trip together, it was the same pattern every day, getting stuck into several bottles every day and spouting the same old crap. So I voted with my feet and never regretted it.

As for hijacking your thread with such input, in your place I'd send her a PM and ask her to respect that the thread is about Hans and not her and her lot. If she takes umbrage and falls out with you, that's her loss , not yours.

Just read Geoff’s post Jan......so it isn’t a relative you are on about! I guess it is the person from Facts who appeared on here for a few weeks many moons ago....then left rather abruptly!

The same applies to the suggestions in my PM. Explain that your lifestyle is very different to hers, and that as much as you are interested in her family, you, Hans and Motley are your priorities....and as such it is what you want to focus on for now. - If She doesn’t like it, she is not a friend!

Good advice from Geoff and Kev. 😁
