Thought I'd give it it's own thread, here are a couple of videos of how it is today.

Heres a link to the garage folder, view on Dropbox.

Oh! I thought it was going to house the Motorhome, it's just the car and your tools and stuff then?

Coming on then kev, be great when it’s water tight. I suppose ya can’t blame the guy using it as a hospital job as it’s sort of a freebie.👍

To call it a garage is wrong as you can't get a car in it, so it's really just a workshop, it could be extended at some point, but then there would be no moho parking for me.

Why does it have to be so tall if it's only a workshop?
Or do my eyes deceive me.

Is the blockwork single skin?
Is the blockwork reinforced with steel rods as it seems to be holding back a lot of earth and could fail over time.

uPhoto number 21, when it rains heavily where does all the water go from the top of the garden, over time the water, rubble, soil that inevitably washes down will put a lot of pressure on that blockwork, hence me asking if it's single skin, reinforced, is there a drainage system in place?
Will water just deep in through the walls, especially the rear wall?I

If the earth is directly up against the wall/walls then I think you will have problems, hard to tell from just photos.

The wall is made of 6 inch block not 4 inch to withstand any pressure, the ground is undisturbed clay so very stable, there is a proper land drain going in, then pea gravel up to about a foot from the top, where top topsoil will be added, the garage roof will get 3 layers of visqeen then 2 to 3 inches of concrete.

Just my hooter is a bit bunged up Gert, and it's quite a hill to get down to the garage level, that and I was thinking of you 😃 😃

morning all

hi kev

im just repairing my American caravan roof skylight and am using a rubber paint that is made for roofs and walls

i was wondering if it may be a good idea to coat the rear of the wall with something similar

i think they call it tanking

possibly belt and braces for what you have but  would do no harm

Hi Barry, the lower 4 feet of the walls are tanked already, that is tucked into the ground visqeen and with the land drain it should be dry.

I’m sure the builder will be used to doing that sort of work so should have thought of damp or water penetration. He wouldn’t want to have to come back and rectify any problems as he lives next door to kev.
