Inspired by the current threads on self-building motorhomes Steptoe thought he would practise by removing a window in his otherwise perfectly good van [eek]IMG_0029.jpg

I think the clue is in the actual name Ernie - it is “self-build” and not destroy what you’ve already got [biggrin]

I tried Creeping Crack Cure but, visualize another photo of mattresses presently propped up against radiators indoors, that hasn't worked!

I'm quite annoyed about this as if you examine the first photo carefully these is a lot less bodywork for the mastic behind the top rail of the frame to seal against than there is behind the bottom rail  (the leak was from the top rail!)

The reason for this is the Autotrail fitter using a bit of wallboard edging as a spacer to centralise the window in the opening. (to be fair to him this bodge lasted for 10 years [rolleyes] when I refit the window I'll do it properly and use two bits [biggrin])IMG_0032.jpg  , grrr....

At least you will be confident that the repair will be long lasting. It is a pain having to put right someone’s short cut.

She won't now be able to use the excuse of the wet bed to keep out of my way [smile]
