We get quite enthusiastic about visiting Motorhome Shows as they seem to offer both a social occasion, a shopping spree and fairly cheap camping.
If you do ever visit a show, which suites you best?
For me it has to be Peterborough which is simply huge and on a good day is wonderful but when it rains.....

Would love to go to a Motorhome show. The nearest to us is the Northern Motorcaravan show in July at Knutsford, Cheshire show ground. Can't wait. It's a minimum of 500 mile round trip for us, so we will make it an extended trip to the Wirral. Last time we went were disappointed by the lack of stalls. Hope there are more this year.

In the past we've visited Newbury, NEC and Excel.  NEC was the most disappointing.

We're going to Peterborough this year and really looking forward to it as we are actually camping there which we don't usually do.  Newbury and Excel were both day trips and when we went to the NEC we stayed on a CC rally the first time and a C&CC CS the 2nd time.

We attended Newark Show this weekend. It was at times very cold but what I found interesting were the number of similar problems that other MHF members seemed to have with their electrics on what for many of us was the first excursion of the year. My Leisure battery failed on the first night (perfect timing) which was frosty although we were still quite snug inside the van. Two other vans that I know of had similar problems and another ran out of gas. Another chap locked himself out of his Autotrail, you could see his keys on the table. Somewhat surprisingly another Autotrail owner came over and her keys fitted his van.
I for one find these early shows invaluable for checking over the vans equipment in this practice run. I doubt that our battery would have shown up as failed quite so close to a stand selling batteries (50 yards away), had I been on some far flung Aire.
As we visit many shows, it is lovely to meet the same motorhomers and the staff on some of the stands who become real friends over the years.

Can't wait to go to a Show. Yes we do meet people we saw last time. Lots of motorhomes, but funnily enough same people to meet.

Leisure battery fail? How was that diagnosed? For information all batteries are covered by replacement warrantee for 3 years. Will tell the story of mine if you ask.

As we turned off 'Futtocks End' in the evening, the heating pump cut out and a rather pretty red light started flashing over the habitation door. We are fairly familiar with what we can and cannot do so realised something was amiss. After a few moments the 11v became 12 then 13v although we were not on hook-up. Turned the pump on...12....11...flashing light.
After a rather chilly night and some hot cups of tea, I walked from my van into the Newark Showground. After about 50 steps I stood at a stand selling batteries. A very nice young man carried it over (on a trolley) and fitted it for me. I really wanted two batteries but 1/4" raised plate under where the second battery should have gone, defeated this objective. The first day the new battery was not quite fully charged but by the second day the sunshine made sure that it was full, even after watching some tv and sitting with all the LED lights on.... 14+v
130w solar panel and 110 amp single battery.
