For anyone who got stung with the Vodafone dongle when they stopped credit rolling over each month this might be of interest. I lost £9.95 in credit so I looked into unlocking it and using a GiffGaff sim card which last indefinitely and costs just 20p a day for up to 20MB of data. Each card also comes with £5 of credit for free. So if you have a k3565 dongle and want to use it just as I do, as a backup if you can't get wifi on site I have put an article together showing how I did here http://zappysblog.co.uk/unlocking-the-vodafone-k3565-dongle/. It's fairly easy if you are moderately computer savvy.

Too late for me, I binned mine (along with almost £19 of credit) as it was rubbish anyway, hardly ever got a signal strong enough to use it. Bought a years access to CC site wifi instead. Shame I rushed to bin the Vodafone though, that GiffGaff might have been better but I'll never know now. Oh well!!!

It works reasonably well with the GiffGaff sim and I find it useful as a backup if I can't get wifi to get emails and a bit of browsing. Mine was just gathering dust, I am a hoarder, (as I get told often) never throw anything away if i do next week I usually find i will need it.

Thanks Graham,

I will try to unlock my vodafone dongle.

I also have another unlocked dongle that came with the mobile partner software but I haven't managed to get it to work with my Zoom data traveller mifi unit.

I also use Giffgaff good value isn't it

Hi Steve,
Yes I do like giffgaff it is very fair, I have never known any other operator actually pay the customers back for poor service. They did last year when the service went down over a weekend. I never knew it happened but we all voted on how we wanted the payback. I like the forum too.
