How are folk in UK interpreting..Essential travel?, now were advised to avoid all non-essential travel. Im away at present having arrived before the restrictions and getting home is ok I reckon. But would like another local trip in April. What are members thoughts?

If we wanted to get off in the van we'd just go but keep to ourselves (normal for us) avoid crowds and busy shops, I think cafes etc will soon be told to close, we'd shop early in the day to avoid others, and keep our distance.

Where are you currently, Rick?

i can see England/UK completely locked down inside a week, unable to go anywhere apart from food shops or doctor. Also the TA will be mobilised to ensure the streets are clear

the way the £ is plummeting against the €uro and the Trumpence it’s all going to get bloody expensive. Even though the fuel prices have fallen markedly recently they will have to go back up as fuel is paid for in dollars.

doomed, we’re all doomed I say! 9A211142-5CFA-4623-A66D-9CE1124C51BE.jpeg

Love it...just "dont panic Mr.." "..stupid boy" I came up near Grassington for first trip since new year before the govt announcements. Only 20miles to get home so no visit to garage necessary. Isolation here better than home . Seems some people class leisure travel as essential as site expects 50 odd arrivals for weekend! As for cost of living I'm thinking it only matters if I survive the invasion. Sad for those who lose their income as businesses close down though

If no one had panicked and the news had kept quiet all the rest of the sensible population would have just plodded on same as always now they are causing mahem shutting schools for months telling pubs to shut cafes etc how the hell do they think the country will survive. Business go skint so people all out of work what future for the younger generation.

I agree, but I guess they feel they have to be seen doing something about it, fortunately Liz's son packed up his shop in December or he'd have been in the doodoo having to pay staff etc.

Essential travel in countries which are in  ‘lock down’ means only for medical emergencies, food shopping, and for people to get to work that cannot work at home Rick. (People are also allowed out to walk dogs and have some exercise, but must keep away from other people). I agree with Simon, - we will be in ‘lock down’ here within a week.

Panic shopping in supermarkets is another issue. People are just over reacting.....and being greedy. It is ridiculous how people are queuing outside supermarkets, - with many of them doing it daily to get as much as they can! Human nature never ceases to amaze me! 🙄 We haven’t shopped since we had our on-line shopping last Friday. Our next delivery is tomorrow morning. - I will let you all know how we get on!

Back on topic......
Leisure trips will not be seen as essential travel. - Ray and John will know more about this than me, but I believe that in France you need fill in a form to show you need to travel. If you don’t you get fined!

I have just been watching the Channel 4 News. They are showing people still ‘out and about’ in London, and when questioned why they were not trying to do ‘social distancing’ and staying home, one woman replied that by doing that you were ‘giving in to the virus.....and said she had no intention of doing as advised! The mentality of some people is amazing! Does she think the virus won’t affect her because she isn’t worried about it? 🙄 it is irresponsible, as the only way we will beat this is to stop it spreading, and keeping the infected people down to manageable numbers that the NHS can deal with.

Start doling out fines like here in Spain. it will cost you €300 or €600 depending on the seriousness of the offence. One local decided to jet wash his car after filling with petrol. Petrol OK jet washing not so he is now €600 poorer and it will be enforced they just take it from your bank account if you don't pay.

Completely agree, see my posts in https://www.motorhomeowners.org/post/the-coronavirus-10452263?trail=125

Overhere "excercises" are still tolerated but it is a matter of hours and they will almost certainly be prohibited.

Nice to see you out and about in the new van Al.

I like your idea of posting photos of your walk in ‘isolation.’ We should all do it. 😁
