Yer man is alive an well, and sends his best, he even says he misses his buddies, (sad old fart) he's on South Uist right now, he's down to one hand for some reason, (maybe he's worn it out him being on his own) must be all that cooking n stuff, he's says it's a mishap, but no more ??? he is trying to launch and control a RC aircraft off the beach, which sounds like a disaster report in the offing, he hopes everyone is okay, he does mention he's not heard from the Lanky Jock since he went over the pond, (he must be feeling REALLY lonely) he intends staying on the islands weather permitting, (less midges I suppose) he says he did post that he was heading up here, & that it's been rather nice, I think he means lack of interweb, Text is difficult to pick up on sometimes.

I shall enquire how he's damaged his mit, and report if it's reportable.

Tuggs says.

Sadly not doing anything heroic. I was preparing vegetables, and dislodged a tendon over a knuckle, tearing the matrix that holds it in place. One of those numpty moments. Got it strapped to the next finger for a couple of weeks. sore!

Lanky Jock eh , years ago maybe before I put on 3 stones. Used to have a 32" waist  now 38 ". Gone is the slim , lithe , fit look to be replaced by a rounder version . Still 6Ft 3" , but don't look so tall due to rotundity , if that's a word.
Knew Geoff was coming north , just not when. He's in a good place , jealous of him.
When you're able to read this Geoff, get Ellie's help until the finger gets better. Sure she can grip somethings while you cut them[biggrin]. Make her earn her keep.
Weather been good for a few days , so I hope it's the same on the islands. PM when your due back on the mainland , I'm working until Tuesday but then have a few days off.
Been unable to go away as my 90 ish year old uncle's funeral was yesterday, good life and relatively healthy one.
Loads of beaches for Ellie to tire herself out on.
Hope you're enjoying the break.
Might use your nickname in the future Kev, when I lose a couple of stones. Diet , sorry , sensible eating starts on Monday. Going to eat lots of sweet and sugary things this weekend to make up for it.
John

And a deep fried Mars bar, or a fresh free range haggis burger.

Never tried a deep fried Mars Bar , but in my school years a couple of mates used to put a Mars Bar, cold , on a buttered roll and eat it. Absolutely disgusting!!!!!
Used to eat the odd bit of haggis until the BSE , mad cow era, it's made from offal. They said don't eat kidneys , liver , etc then. Haven't tried it since.
We all could lay claim to knowing about mad ... disease before it made the news[biggrin]. I'll quickly add that my good lady is a brilliant lady, just in case.
Lost six pounds in Florida but all back on again , so back to the Florida diet , loads of fruit and no cakes or biscuits.
John.

Hi, everyone. I'm at Lochboisdale briefly and have latched onto CalMac's wifi with the aerial booster. Not going on the ferry, just come to empty the loo and fill the water.

Been having a superb time wilding next to beaches. Ellie and I are both knackered, but a mixture of pies and gin is keeping my weight stable. I went for a cycle ride the other day and had a puncture 4.7miles from the van. Good job I carry the kit with me. So, I've decided cycling is a vastly overated pastime.

Weather has been amazing the last couple of weeks. Spent some time at Staffin Bay on Skye before coming over here. That's where the mishap with my hand happened.

I was prepping veggies for a trough session. For some reason I can't remember (maybe an onion was fighting back?) I pressed down on the back of my left hand with my right. I felt something pop and, when I looked, my middle finger was pointing in the wrong direction! I grabbed it and pulled it straight, thinking maybe I had dislocated the knuckle and, as it straightened, the ligament flipped from the side back over onto the top. Ouch! Weird. The finger kept dropping and the ligament slipping off again, so I splinted it and lashed it to it's neighbour.

I was already booked on the ferry next morning from Uig to Lochmaddy, so I made the crossing and went to the hospital on Benbecula. Apparently I've torn the stuff that holds the ligament in place and have to keep it taped to it's neighbour for a couple of weeks. It's a darned nuisance, there's so much that difficult to do when you have 2 fingers taped together. Like wave to idiots and stuff! I have no idea if it will heal. I hope so, I can't get me Marigolds on for the washing up. Heehee.

I hope you're all well. I'm off up the road to stock up on booze and pies. Now I know this wifi works I'll popover again in a while with the latest exciting instalment fro tne Outer Hebrides.

Tell the truth Tuggers, you flipped the bird to someone and they grabbed it and twisted.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it up north, we've had some lovely times when the weather was great, it can be a touch miserable when it's horizontal rain.

If you're ferrying back from Stornaway to Ullapool then make your way to the lighthouse beyond the ferry port and it's a reasonable wilding spot if you manage to get there just in time to miss the ferry ⛴.

Weather has changed. Wind has backed, and it has gone overcast and a bit drizzly. Not too good for beach walking in my mankini.[bawl]

Someone elsewhere mentioned midges. They aren't usually too much of a problem out here, the wind keeps them away.

The mainland, though. Arggh, I get eaten alive. They ought to hoover them up with giant vacuum cleaners and bomb North Korea with them.
