Earlier this year I replated my van to 3700kg due to being persistently overweight [smile] so in due course (beginning of June) got a replacement V5 with the new details and taxation class.

All well and good except today I have received another one, with the same updated details; in fact the only difference is the document reference numbers and the date. This envelope also contained a flyer to the effect 'have I taxed my new vehicle?' as if I'd just bought it [confused]

I hoping this duplicate is just a glitch in the system but I'm also wondering if some sort of scam is going on but the V5 came to me as the registered owner.

I know I could just ring up and enquire but life's too short so I wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar? (It may be relevant that I've got a NI plate which AFAIK is original to the vehicle as the previous owner lived there [eek] [wink]

Lol Alan, is it better to scam than be scammed against (especially with that Irish connection [wink])

It does solve the conundrum of whether it's best to keep the original V5 in van (for benefit of forays abroad) or at home.

The tax rate isn't shown on the V5 (unless it's in code somewhere?) My van isn't new but as I've replated it at 3700kg it now fall into the PHGV category with an tax of £165 per year.

Mine is the same band, makes no real sense, but I'll take the discount.
