Don't know when they actually started but they do glide quite a lot, not so sure about the soaring though, if you mean in the way that buzzards and the like do.

Some do have the ability to roll and tumble though, when we lived in UK someone local had some tumblers (not the drinking kind) which were often seen.

Love to see and hear the buzzards soaring above our house. Yesterday they were being attacked by both seagulls and crows. Never seen pigeons up that high though.

Our pigeons soaring and gliding and we´re a long way from you, I almost wish I could swap places with one, just for a few minutes.

We don’t have as many pigeons here as we did when we lived in the Chilterns. They used to nest in the Wisteria under our bedroom window there and wake us up every morning! I quite like to see them, but I am not so happy about being woken by them!

Liz wants a wisteria, I bought her one two years ago, but she never planted it, so it's here now, and we bought another last week a bit more biggerer, dunno where she's putting it though.

They like well drained soil Kev. I had to plant one when we came here sixteen years ago, and although it is in a sunny, sheltered spot, it hasn’t flourished.

We had huge established ones at both of our previous houses in the chalky soil of the Chilterns, and they were magnificent. In one house we had a purple wisteria and a white lilac tree. In the other one we had a white wisteria and a purple lilac tree. - I have no doubt that in times gone by it was the way people planted things! When we moved here we already had a purple lilac tree.....so you can guess what I planted!!! - Unfortunately it isn’t doing well. It is growing, but VERY slowly.
