The World has gone mad. There are people trying to re-write history instead of making a better future.

I can’t see the point of keep banging on about something that happened and we can’t change it now. All throughout history people have been made into slaves nothing to do with colour so just move on and as you say Sylvia let’s try to make a better future for the grandchildren.

I certainly don’t think we should ignore history....good or bad. In fact I think history is very important, as we learn through past experiences in life. I have never been keen on statues though. Monuments to fallen service personnel after wars etc are fine, but statues in the images of people that made their fortunes at the expense of others (whatever colour) doesn’t ‘sit well‘ with me. They are usually erected to ‘glorify’ and ‘honour‘ that person, which in this day and age is not easy to accept. We should all learn about these people in schools, and from history books, but I can understand the reason for not having such statues in public places. Museums would be an excellent place to exhibit them....maybe better than in city streets and squares.

I mean all statues here, not just ones related to BAME.

People have been toppling statues ever since other people have been putting them up. It's all part of our history.

As a nonconformist I find it particularly ironic that one of our local churches has in wonderful stained glass pictures of our 'founding fathers', who would in their day smashed all the stained glass in their own churches. They also would torn down every statue.

However now to the real issue here. Fawlty Towers  'not funny ?' - 'of course it's funny' (from the script}
It will always remain my favourite episode even though 'ich war in Deutschland geboren'.
