For the UK residents [smile]
Here on the mainland, screenwash is sold in ready to use form and marketed as Summer or Winter, the Summer product allegedly has additives to make the removal of bugs etc better and often with a floral smell, whereas the Winter has antifreeze with a more chemical smell, typically the Winter version will have -25 or so capability.

Autoglym Ultimate Screenwash 500ml

The Autoglym Ultimate Screenwash is a highly concentrated formula that can be diluted to suit a range of weather conditions, seasons and screen contaminants.

The 500ml container makes up to 8 Litres of Screenwash and will easily cut through road grime, insect remains and everything else that may end up on your windscreen.

During the winter the dilution can be adjusted to suit falling temperatures whilst maintaining screen cleaning capabilities. If used neat, Ultimate Screenwash remains effective and unfrozen at -45°C!

Autoglym Ultimate Screenwash 500ml Extra Info

  • Suitable for all wash jet types
  • Safe on paintwork and trim.
  • Approx creates up to 8 Litres of Screenwash
This is what I use, I also carry a small spray bottle containing a strong solution to use for defrosting the windows if the screen freezes whilst I am out shopping etc.

Jan, be careful not to mix up the terms antifreeze, which is a coolant for use only in an engine, and the windscreen washer mix that is only for use in the washers

A long time since this thread was used, but here I am at 5.20 am unable to sleep. I've been awake since 3am, had a cuppa, tried to read, but eyes don't want to, all is quiet except I can hear the fridge or freezer humming. I haven't slept much just lately so Saturday night I took a sleeping tablet, the first for over a week, they usually give me 7 hours, but only 5 this time. I can't turn off my brain.
I will have another try, I suppose at least the body is resting if not the brain.

Hi Gertrude, we've been awake for ages, got tea in bed, woke up to lots of snow and a heavy sky.

I did manage to "drop off" a few times, was determined not to get up until at least 8 o'clock so didn't.  Such ridiculous dreams I keep having that include people I hardly knew from years ago.

I have been awake for ages Alan, I'm not in pain or aching although sometimes the shoulder I dislocated in July caused me trouble, something seems to get trapped now and then and the whole left arm aches and my neck giving me a head ache on that side and I never normally suffer with headaches.
I will now try to sleep again, try moving your arm and shoulder about, sometimes that untwigs whatever has caught. Good night 🌙 it's 2.35 am here an hour ahead of you of course.
The sky was very clear, lots of stars at eleven, now not a star to be seen, but no wind.

I slept for a couple more hours.
The sky is once more full of stars, that I can see, before someone tells me they are always there.
I'll have another try for sleep.
