We are with Comfort Marilyn. We did a small claim with them last year for a couple of sctratches on the van and cannot praise them enough. - Van picked up from home, work done to an exceptional standard, then van delivered back to us at home. Apart from our excess, all work was paid to the repair company directly by Comfort. - An easy, stress free experience. We certainly wouldn't insure with anyone else now.

Time for made up word , it just gets worserer and worserer. The AA seem to have given you a couple of locations where the van was meant to be , at LEAST one of them was wrong . They purport to be a professional breakdown service , but they don't even know where the van was . Even on a sub-contracted recovery they should surely know where the van they are contracted to uplift is at any given time. Methinks more than £100 pound compensation due. Advice from your lawyer more accurate than mine , just trying to use common sense which seems to be a fast disappearing trait nowadays.
On the bright side the van is at the repairers so can't go missing again.
Keep your chin up and your punches going , and I hope for the correct outcome.
Awra best.
John

What's actually involved costwise in running it???

I notice it only has a 30 day warranty, not confidence inspiring.

I bet the option for live tracking isn't free either.

The cost,s are in the dicription basically you need a 2G SIM card the cost then is just a phone call made by you or whoever.A text from tracker is sent to that phone so for you to see where it is just a phone call and a text I gave the number to family and friends they can see where I am at any time. It's been working OK for 2 yrs and only cost me 8£ then
Your phone needs to be a smart phone cable of getting Internet

30 days warranty is a bit negative in my opinion, and possibly not even legal in the UK, but sorry for having an opinion.

Hello again all
Now the ombudsman is on the case
SAGA aren't getting rid of me with a fob off
of £100
Lucky that I have the time and energy to follow this through
These big companies are impersonal
Looking at another one
Cheers for now

Hello again
Well Brittany ferries have now agreed to supply a hire car
Only £1250 a month for the duration of the repairs
Ombudsman taking up the case with saga insurer
I keep reminding myself of my old dad's motto
Who dares wins
Motorhome engine out
Body repairs started

Hi tugboat

I like the saying that goes
Money talks
Mine says goodbye!
No news yet from the body shop
A real lesson in patience
At least the daffodils are showing their lovely heads and cheer me up
and hopefully moving to a flat in Grange over sands soon
Watching usa california this morning puts it all in perspective

On the breakdown insurance thing, why a car, why do they not supply a rental MoHo (car is a waist of time unless you only have a MoHo for transport) if that is what you are having recovered, then you could hopefully resume your holiday, not quite the same, but at least they would get a move on with the repairs due to the cost.

This was the problem I had when my motorhome got run into.
SAGA where adamant that a small car was all that could be supplied.
Pushed and pushed but no go.
As I also have a land rover and the wife has a small car. Thought no point.
On refusal it was take it or leave it. No alternative. No financial reimbursement for not having one either.[nono]
Its all in the policy according to SAGA.

Great Cover and value for money SAGA.      NOT  [mad]

Hello again
Just to let you know that I am back on the road again!
4 months of anxiety but all has been resolved
The moral of this story is never give up and to keep nagging the insurance company, ombudsman and anyone else who is involved
the cost of repair repatriation and compensation has been almost 25000
Now looking forward to getting out and about again
Look out for the smiling lady with the two Dalmatians and give me a wave

Hi
Thank you all for the wishes
Yes the total cost for repair and repatriation came to
9500 engine and clutch and extras
7500 repairs to rear end
2800 compensation from Brittany ferries
for accommodation and car hire
2000 Hotels and vehicle hire back to uk
3000 to bring motorhome back plus storage
Could have given me another one!

Three different companies involved
I have just changed my insurance to Liverpool Victoria
as SAGA wanted £125 when I changed address
It has been an interesting time and learning curve
Looking forward to getting out and about again
and wishing the best to you too
