Now I’m going to show my ignorance about such things. I’ve never researched a mifi which I take to be a mobile Wi-Fi unit using a SIM card. I’ve never looked to get one as I use my iPhone and iPad to hotspot when I need a mobile tablet. What advantage do they give?

I have a Wi-Fi somewhere I used my Polish Orange in it and it worked well in Poland and a few km into Germany. I will check it tomorrow to see how many g's for each, busy watching Netflix on the Mac just now😃

I have used both with the same sim card. The speed with the 4G mifi is noticeably faster loading web pages etc. For streaming you will probably suffer buffering issues with 3G. Go with 4G if you can it will always fall back to 3G if no 4G signal is available.

hi colin

thanks for that

we have recent had a lot of french arrive here on site in portugal  and the speed has dropped off

once i have a web page up it works fine but can take 10 secs to open

my internet speed varies between 5 and 15mbs

so i think your answer that a 4g should help with  the time it takes for a page to open is what i was looking for
