I wonder what it was for, not a production engine for sure, they are cut from cast slugs usually, the CNC method would take way too long.

It was great to see a CNC doing what they do best, I bet the code took a while to write.

I’m Pleased it worked for you John, did you notice that one double big end was a staggered journal, I’m assuming a v6 but with uneven firing intervals.

I’ve had a little look online for this.

It’s called a splitpin crank journal.

It enables engineers to achieve an even firing interval on a V6 engine using a 90degree bank angle, like a V8, where the V6 really needs a 120degree bank angle to achieve an even balance. Obviously the ideal 120degrees is impractical in the confines of an engine bay

It’s amazing what you can learn online these days if you go lookie

Bit early to read that but I think some may have stayed in there.

Don't forget the split conrod on the HD engines so the cylinders could lie directly behind each other, quite clever for the period and still used today.
