Mum had bowel cancer, I have the test every 3 years, I've had breast cancer twice, both discovered quickly so no loss of boobs, a yearly mammography. One brother liver cancer another kidney another prostate, 2 aunties of lung cancer. My liver and kidneys have been checked.
I'm being well looked after and checked regularly.

Good you are being checked for bowel cancer screening there is a further test they have just introduced for anyone turning 55, still normal screening at 60 but a further check at 55 called bowel scope screening where a tube is inserted into your bowel to check and remove any polyps which could turn cancerous.

It's a one off 55 year old check before the current 60 year old screening starts, I am 53, 54 in September so 18 months I will get it.

That's the check I have every 3 years Paul, a colonoscopy, one coming up on the 22nd of this month.

Lol never thought of it like that Alan, hope I'm here to do it, in fact I hope you lot are here when I retire so I can still annoy you guys as well.

Like I said to the wife, you work all your life and eventually pay the mortgage off but the house isn't really yours, you are just a curator til you peg it. Unless of course you sell it and blow the lot on wine, wimmin and song. I said to the wife if owt happens to her that's what I'll be doing.

She said" But you can't sing" so it looks like it will be just the wine n wimmin then.

It's called different things I think Jan, I supported one person recently with LD to hospital and it was called sigmoidoscopy.

The prostate is an odd one, all men die with it, fortunately not so many die of it these days, it's not the cancer that bothers me so much they can deal with that usually as they are with mine, I miss the simple joy of a damned good pee.

Yes good idea to get tested regularly Paul. Even if your PSA is really really low, it’s a benchmark for subsequent tests. James has encouraged both his sons who are in their late forties to have their PSA test out.
Really thinking of you and Hans, Gerty. Good luck

Not that personal really Geoff, just a few numbers, but it's a real-life record of a low-grade PSA report, it is abnormal, but I am on the low side of the scale, very low, so might just allay someones fears, I was scared to death at first, now it's like a toenail to me, it's growing but not something to get worked up about.

I just wish it was as easy to get at to rip out.

Most men who get Prostate cancer do so at an age where it will be summat else (even age itself) that gets them first.

One of the treatments is being given female hormones which causes weight gain and the growth of moobs.

It feels like it's getting bad again despite the antiseptic drugs, I may need a catheter to see it off, which after the experience Hans has had I am far from looking forward too [frown] [frown]

You need to talk to a urologist Kev, you might be a candidate for the tie back.

I've not been taking any of my meds for 3 days now, so in lots of pain, I've been taking my alfuzosin only as that is to stop hesitancy when peeing, and also the antibiotics, yesterday I tried double voiding, going then going again a few minutes later, and at last it has started to get back to normal again, I was still up last night twice, but at least no discomfort and a decentish pee.
