Like Pete our wevver was cooler and a tiny bit of rain this morning.
Had a mystery alarm going off and finally discovered it was the fridge door wasn't shut properly.
It is now brightening up.
Poor little Motley had 9 ticks on him yesterday, but I managed to find them before the heads were burried.
Our vet at home told us there is now a tablet for tick prevention, anyone heard of it?

They are horrible little blood sucking things, they say all creatures have a use but I don't know what use they are.

I think he must have walked through a nest of them yesterday, we've walked this afternoon and I haven't found any. He is such a good little dog doesn't object at all when I rummage through his fur turning him this way and that and upside down.
Hans is playing tennis with him now and it's so funny watching the Alpaka watching Motley chase after the ball.
I've taken videos so when I get home and do my YouTube you'll see.

How horrible. It's bad enough to find just the one, but nine 😱

I've not heard of a tablet, but perhaps there is one?

Found them.
Motley weighs 10 kg. The tablets are for dogs weighing 4.5 to 10kg or 10kg to 20kg.
I wonder which one he should have 😕

My guess would be the higher dose Jan. Barney was 59k and Betsy is 47k. When dosing them up with anything the vets would always ‘dose up’ rather than down. Could you ring your vet, explain you are away from home, and ask their advice?

Are the tablets more expensive than the oil I dab on them? It has always worked ... never had a single tick embed in them. Probably tempted fate there!

We've always had a spot on type and depending where you are, especially if wild animals like deer, pig, hares or rabbits, or sheep, goats and horses are in abundance as they are here and most places we go, a few will still latch on.
Of course it also depends if you see them easily on the dog or if you have to search as we have had to with all our dogs long fur.
Motley gets very itchy with it so we don't use it until necessary and usually about this time they start their winter nap so we didn't use it 😕
Yes it is more expensive, but lasts 12 weeks, the spot on only 3 of 4 so in the long run its cheeper.☺

Do you see my smilies from the Kindle?

When it comes to ticks, there is no substitute for being hands-on with your dog. I stroke Ellie a lot and have regular contact with most of her. Her nether regions have less hair cover so can be fairly easily visually inspected. On the rare occasion that she has had a tick, I have felt it before I've seen it.

I'm thankful she is white (off-white sometimes!) and her coat is not too long. I think I would struggle to maintain a dog like Motley.

Morning tugs, every walk we take, half an hour or so after we are back I start the inspection and yes I feel them before I see them, these orrible little hard things. We have a special tick removing tool station even.

It's going to be a lovely day, sunny and 20°c, there is a plan for today's activity, show you later.

I didn't like it and Motley Deferably didn't, too bumpy, Hans said it wasn't too bad driving, He's just doing a bit of maintenance on it because the band break didn't work properly.
We have a problem, the loo slide cover has broken. Can someone give me a link to the maintenance, how to get into it and what to ask for please, it's a Thetford cassette.
It's the sticking up bits something has broken off.

We have the user manual, but it doesn't tell how to take it apart and I can't open pdf files on the Kindle.
He needs to know how to undo the waste holding tank mechanism.
In the meantime to block the hole when not in use he thought a heavy plastic bag filled with water would do the trick. Any other suggestions?

If it has a circular top Jan about 150mm across look around the edge for two tiny arrows on the cassette and one on the lid, or vice versa not got one handy to check, using the sliding part on top of cassette, pull it half way out and use it to rotate the lid, but if you have the user manual you should already have that info unless you mean th vans manual, in which case they are usually useless.

I'll see if I can get a picture for you, hang about lass.

Thanks very much, your so clever.
It looks similar Kev so it will probably work the same. Ours is a C260 the manual says.
How we need to know the name of the bit that's broken.
The plastic bag works well.

Still here in Dobra Voda and don't intend to move for a few more days. Each day we walk for about one and a half hours, through the meadows and forest. Yesterday we had a little trip out into Austria and back into the Czechia, lovely scenery all the way. The autumn colours are still not at there best and a lot of what was there is on the ground blown off by the strong wind. Temperature is still 20+ and sunny.
I'll put the laptop on later then I can post more pictures.
Did you know the Alpaka use one toilet place between them? It's quite funny watching them all go to the same spot to unload.
