In addition you could meet up privatised unmarked cars equipped by speedcameras too...

As the technology becomes ever cheaper and reliable, then so the gains to be achieved by policing in this manner will prompt ever more coverage - throughout Europe. Watch out speeders!

Despite what many suggest the majority of drivers do respect the 80 Kph limit recently imposed.
There are of course some that do not, this week our local newspaper reported, on the RN 12 as it passes through the forest near our property a driver was stopped for travelling at 128 Kmh he had his car impounded on the spot and his licence confiscated, on the same day in Lassay les Chateaux a woman driver was stopped for driving at 136 Kmh, she received the same treatment, both roads are 80 Kph limit.

I find the absolute worst at not respecting the limit are HGV's normally artic drivers and taxis, which I find strange as being "professional" drivers if they lose their licence they lose their livelihood with it.

I think part of speeding is absentmindedness, usually not realising the limit has dropped, but also the thought that they will get away with it, I'm guilty of the former and the latter from time to time, sometimes you just want to put your foot down, usually on a dual carriageway not a 30 limit of course.

I’m grateful that when I’m in the MH my normal mode of driving is sloooooow. 80k limits are perfectly fine, and in addition my Garmin always chirps in to firstly let me know about upcoming limits changes, in and out of limits, and in addition if I stray over the limit gives a warning. Autoroutes and any 90k limits and I’m always well under. I need to be a bit more careful in the 50k and 30k village limits as the engine just keeps wanting to keep going, change down and dawdle is the answer.

i read somewhere that the French artic drivers were up in arms with the reduction from 90 to 80 as their vehicles were more economical at 56mph and they it would impact on delivery times - but also the French don’t like to be told what to do by bureaucrats 😉
