We've made our minds up not to go over to Europe this year due to the uncertainty of the present situation. Yesterday I re-joined the Camping & Caravanning Club and booked us into their West Runton site in Norfolk for a few days next week. It was one of our favorite stopovers a few years ago, within easy walking distance of Cromer and East Runton. Hopefully this will be the start of us exploring the British countryside more over the next few months. Just hope the flipping weather improves.

Nick.

Your concerns re getting away are shared by many people Nick. Good luck with your booking in Norfolk. from what I gather campsites are getting very booked up, so you are probably lucky to get a slot At the time you want it.

I think we have taken the approach that we will be just as safe on aires and wild camping in France, as in a caravan site in the UK. We have a EuroTunnel ticket to use anyway, so I think we will ‘bite the bullet’ and plan a tour of France at some stage. Even at the peak of the virus, people stuck abroad were allowed to return to their homes in another country, so as long as we don’t get stranded in France we are not worried about being out there.

We did three years of touring in the U.K. when we had a poorly dog, and although we enjoyed it, we find wild camping difficult here, and campsites don’t appeal to us. - Maybe a small CL would be ok, but our preference is to be abroad! It feels more like a ‘holiday.’ I know not everyone like the idea of being isolated for the night, but we prefer it. (We tend to chose aires that are quiet when we use them), and we tend to tour....rather than stay put for a few days.

What is everyone else hoping to do this summer?

Well done that you have made a decision to get out and do something.

like Lin, we have decided to make our departure to where we hope we can be safely isolating i.e. across La Manche and into France and Italy. My idea is to also set off in September with no fixed itinerary and go where life takes us.

how about you then, Alan? And you too Kev? Any plans?

I had planned to do a bit of exploring for the first time on my own and look what happened 😣.

Hopefully next week sometime will be able to move from this spot.i
Northern Germany doesn’t seem to be effected much, certainly not where I am anyway, free movement for all here.

Avagudun Nick. [smile]

Looks very much like we will have to stay in UK this year too, although not through choice. First time in god knows how many years. [frown]

Got a few CL's booked for July so far.

Pete

I’ve been told not to take notice of everything I read or see.
