I have a pleated fly screen which has two cords running in a channel at the bottom of the door.
Both are normally tensioned, today however one has gone very slack, door still works but cannot see how to remove blind and probably frame to fix, any ideas?

Trevor might have an idea Greg. Our fly screen is the same as yours.....and Trevor has the same van as us. If not, our motorhome goes in for its habitation service on the 5th July, so if you haven't managed to repair your screen by then I will ask the service chaps how to do it.

I have re tensioned a few of the older type seitz window blinds in my time but never a fly screen. Probably have to remove the whole assembly.
There are a couple of plastic end caps at the top corners which will prize off to reveal the mounting screws. Bottom mounting screws are visible in the floor plate.
Good luck. I would imagine it's a pretty fiddly job.

I've never touched a pleated type, is there anything on YouTube to help?

As you might have guessed we were away when the cord broke and then I lost wifi and data on my tablet/phone so was not able to reply.
Have had a good look at how to remove and also looked at where it has broken and decided to leave well alone until I get some definitive info.
The cord appears to have come away from its starting anchor and therefore may even be a warranty job, I shall talk to my dealer and would be grateful if you asked yours unless I get back to you sooner.

Not searched Utube yet but is a good idea, especially as the rains have come!

Sounds like a warranty job to me Greg. I will ask West Country Motorhomes how to fix it when we are there on the 5th. Once I have any info I will get back to you.

Hi Greg, just back from our dealers after having our hab check and MOT done. - All is well. It seems impossible that our new van is now four years old!

I asked about your door fly screen for you. It seems you will need a new one, but it should be covered under your warranty if you are still within the contract period. I asked about fixing it, and the chap just smiled and shook his head! He said to tell you to get in touch with your dealership.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Woody.

Hi Woody, first of all many thanks for asking, very good of you.
I had already sent photos etc to my dealer who replied yesterday and said he has put one on order as it is a warranty repair.
He also said the whole unit unscrews from the aluminium plate at the bottom and comes out as a complete unit.
Not that I intend to do it but it is worth knowing!

Glad to hear your dealer will sort it out for you Greg, nice to
see when they agree to fix it under warranty instead of trying to
wriggle out of it . well done to your dealer.

They have been very good so far,  a long way away but have the right ethos.
The owner stopped what he was doing and drove us to the local town when we had our hab check done and sent one of his staff to pick us up when we called to see if van ready.  [biggrin]

Glad you have got it sorted Greg. As I said, the chap at our dealership shook his head when I asked about repairing it. Apparently he told OH that it would be a complete new unit. We shall take extra care with ours, as our van is four years old, so the fly screen is probably not covered any longer!
