In Northumberland, North Yorks, Scottish Borders or County Durham

We are planning a few more short trips this year and don't want to travel hundreds of miles just to get there. Maybe 1 week in September then a couple of weekends then another week in October.

So what do you prefer Paul? Wilding, CL type places, or campsites?

Owt, a bit of all sorts, we like CL's, we have done quite a bit of wilding too, I think for the weeks away a small CL will be good.

Okay Paul, are you in the C&CC?

If so, I can recommend the York Rugby & Cricket
Club in Shipton Road, York. 20 mins walk down lovely riverside into centre of town -

£8.50 p/nt. Free bus back.

Thanks for that, we know a nice CL in York, Bleak House farm, Heslington Lane Fulford, across from the university, nice walks for the dogs, cycle straight down Broadway and along the river into town, sounds about the same distance out as yours. 7 quid a night

If you are travelling up through north Lincs I can recommend this place....

https://en-gb.facebook.com/SnailsspaceAtTheSidings/

It's a CL (MC Club - but you don't have to be a member to use it) next to a working steam railway. There is a buffet car cafe on the platform and you are free to wander around the station, yards etc.

The CL is very nice too with toilet and a shower. Very friendly owners too...

The C&CC have numerous "Temporary Holiday Sites" no need to book, just turn up and pay. We used to use them when touring.

No probs.

We stayed there when we had to go to the Autotrail factory in Grimsby. I think we were the only ones staying there at the time too. We didn't go on the steam train bt it might be worth researching which dates/times it runs if you fancy a trip out on it.
