I had to go into Crediton town a couple of days ago to spend a large meat voucher I won at the end of last year playing golf.

When we came out of the butchers and put the bag into the car I noticed we were parked outside a charity shop.

As my wife went inside to browse I suddenly saw this in the window. Then I saw the price tag and just had to have it. As you can see it is a match to one I have had for many years. Sadly, there were no teddy bears for me to ponder over, although I also managed to pick up a new Sergei Meerkat collectible for just £1.95 and a golfing badger for 95p

Oh, and the stuffed wool figure set me back £2.95. I could hardly say no. The amount of detail is amazing, it must take ages to make and stands nearly 2ft tall.

It’s amazing what people give away to charity shops, we’ve have had many a new beach towel from our local MS shop - they’re ideal for drying dogs

I'm not generally a bloke that peruses charity shops but I did find a big towel in the local Salvation Army shop at the weekend that I bought for 99p. As you mentioned, ideal for toweling down the pooch. Also a couple of years ago I bought a decent pair of winter gloves to wear on the motorbike.

That’s Geoffrey gadabout I think, my late wife used to knit them. My son still has his. One of a golfer with a bag of clubs as he used to play all the time.

I’ve got one with the set of golf clubs somewhere, I can’t find it for now, but I’ve also got another that likes sand. Now you’ve got me wondering where the golfer is.....

Years ago my dad worked as a deputy down the pit, he used to get really big towels from the pit baths, we still have some of them, he got them free from his allowance.
