This morning I telephoned our friends at the stables near Hanover, the first time I have spoken to them since Hans died, although we have been in touch by email.

Of course the subject of the Vitus came up and nobody in the area has had it.
I said I was afraid of being ill because what would happen to Motley if anything happened to me and the answer came back immediately, "we would come and fetch him".
It was as if a ton weight lifted from my shoulders, Motley loves it there, they all love Motley and I know he would be happy with them :grin2::grin2::laugh::laugh: Thats 98% of my worry gone.

Another thing was, she didn't know who it was because I spoke in German to her to start with and after I said it was me she told me what I had said was perfect.
So today I will be preparing to leave sometime this week to see my friends.

Brilliant Jan. - All good news. 😁

I know Motley’s welfare has worried you since Hans died, so the fact he would have a good home if you were taken ill must be a HUGE relief. So glad your German is progressing fast as well.

Only dog owners who have a friend not a pet will understand that Lin, like all of us on this forum.

Of course you will hear it everyday I suppose so in the best place to learn.

Good news and a weight lifted about Motley too.

total immersion has to be the best way to go about it. Knowing a little helps, but doing it for real all of the time is the way to go.

I have been out for a while talking to neighbours up the road, the husband came back with me carrying a big piece of strawberry flan ( had a piece yesterday as well).  Marco came to fix my kitchen strip light, but I need a new starter as well as a new bulb.

I have have paid for a 6 month babbel course Paul, but it drives me crazy because they are set on grammar and half the time I don´t know what they are talking about with prepositions, accusative, irregular verbs, active and passive,  60 years ago I could have coped with it, but I have forgotten all that stuff not ever having to think about it.
I have found another introduction to learning German, but for a 10 week course it  5 times as much as what I have paid for babbel.

Sie ist hubsch

I don’t like her fringe, it reminds me of another German 😂

I’ve subscribed to watch a bit more of her.

Late into the conversation (again) but have you ever tried Michel Thomas?

I started with Michael Thomas several years ago and I still have the tapes but nothing to play them on.
He makes a good start, but a lot more needs to be learnt after that.
