I’ve heard that this account can be useful, free breakdown cover, medical cover and so on for a monthly fee and a credit balance interest

So, I thought I’d check it out using my details. I breezed through the requested details, with one exception.

The question was about medication, and without asking further details I was excluded from the cover, I take meds for diabetes control.

So, my question is, does anyone have the account? Have you used the facilities, and are you covered for
Prescribed medication ?

Yes we've had the flex for years, but being over the river we can't take advantage of the covers.
The credit card has been the most useful thing to us, no charges of you pay it off monthly as we've always done, stopped using it at the moment because of the terrible exchange rate, better to use money already here in €.

Yes, I've had a Nationwide FlexAccount practically for life and upgraded to Plus a few years ago to reap the benefits of 'free' breakdown cover and worldwide travel insurance amongst the other benefits such as Jan mentioned + cheaper overseas cash withdrawals.

BUT (and there are now lots of buts!) a couple of years ago they put the monthly fees up from £10 to £13; dropped the 'free' age restriction on the travel insurance from 75 to 70 (so catching me in the net) but so far (touching wood) haven't tinkered with the breakdown insurance.

I've used the breakdown insurance twice, minor issues, flat battery & fuel filter, and this was very efficient but still not sure if I'd take it out now if I wasn't already signed up for the above reasons (to answer your specific query I've no pre-existing conditions or meds so was accepted for the cover)

We have had Flex Plus for quite a few years. We have used the breakdown cover once for a flat car battery. It was a very efficient service. As for medical cover we just declare all pre-existing conditions and hope! We are quite happy with the cover so far.

Yes, I have used their medical insurance. I had to pay extra for being old (!) and also to cover existing conditions (under medication) and to cover extended stay.

I had a word with them yesterday and wasn’t all that happy with their customer service interface 🤪

I’ll be covered OK but I need to phone back again to let them know what Sue’s ailments are so they can let me know how much 💴 extra they will want.
