I’ve had a 3 network mobile phone for a number of years and last year renegotiated my contract to give me 30gb plus unlimited minutes and unlimited texts. Not that I talk that much or send texts very much, but the offer was there for £17.30 a month. I’m well happy with that.

today, I walked past the 3 shop in town and popped in as I’d heard there was a new offer around for unlimited internet plus unlimited minutes and texts for £20 per month reduced to £18. Hm, can I have that?

i went inside and talked to the lad on the counter about what I have already and what I’d like. Yes sir, no problem I can change immediately here for you.

‘’oh by the way, you also get the first (or next) 6 months at half price.

so £9 a month for 6 months and then pennies more than I already pay. Bargain especially as it won’t impact on my hotspotting to the iPad

I did exactly the same Simon a few weeks ago Simon.

I decided to call it a day on my old 4s and treat myself to a new phone, I called into the Apple store in Exeter, then round the corner into the Three shop and asked them if they could change the SIM card in my old phone to fit the new phone. he suggested that I spend another 80p a month which would give me free calls and texts and as much data that I required. From £8.20 to £9 was a deal that I couldn't refuse.

Hi Simon

When you spoke to the lad, did he change your existing contract to the new unlimited data one?

Yes Iain, it was as simple as I said above. It took him barely 5 minutes tapping and typing. And at the end of it I walked away with loads more data and a bill halved in price for 6 months and then 50p more pm. I felt that his product knowledge and training were excellent, and I told his company that as well when I had to do a questionnaire for them.

I’d guess that most phone companies are searching for clients to woo and keep, and Si these offers probably come around regularly if you go looking. I was just in the right place at the right time.

perhaps it’s worth going into your local provider and see what could be on offer if you ask for it?

Yeah, i think i will pop into my local store, I called them spoke to lets just say an overseas operator!! to be told i would need to take out a new contract.
Then i opened a chatbox on their website and asked the same question, to be told i could upgrade to 40gb for an extra £20 per month.
I'll report back when ive been into the store, thanks

The offer Simon mentioned is on their website.
Vodafone and Voxi no where close on price.  Good deal.
See they've increased Roaming data from 19 to 20GB [smile]
Logged in and they are only offering me the same plan as I'm on ... 30GB at £17 pm
Think I'll be ringing them in the morning too!
